zion concert band

The Zion Concert Band began as a suggestion from former Pastor John Lynch. Knowing that I have a strong background in instrumental music, Pastor John asked me in 2000 to prayerfully consider forming an Instrumental Ensemble to occasionally play in worship. We began with less that 10 people of many different skill levels and ages, which has continued to this day. From those "humble beginnings" we have grown to 25-30 musicians, some of whom worship at other churches, but join us at Zion when when the Band is scheduled to play.

From the beginning in 2000 to today, many things have changed. We now perform four times during the church year (September-June), in addition to performing a Sacred Band Concert at StoneRidge Poplar Run in early June. We have been blessed and fortunate to have two arrangers writing customized arrangements for us - James Bauer and Stephanie Sheetz. In addition to the Concert Band, our Brass Ensemble also performs every Christmas Eve and Easter.

One thing has stayed constant, however, with our Instrumental Music program. As with all the Zion musical organizations, we love sharing our talents as musical Worship Leaders, and strive to minister to the folks at Zion through our music. May the Lord continue to guide us in this way!

"Praise Him with trumpet sound, Praise Him with the lute and harp! Praise Him with tambourine and dance; Praise Him with string and pipe! Prasie Him with sounding cymbal; Praise Him with loud clashing cymbals!" (Psalm 150-3:5)
